Getting Started

Welcome to your Snap-on PTA+. This powerful diagnostic and programming tool connects you to advanced vehicle services and OEM-level capabilities. Follow these steps to power on and set up your device.

1 Powering On Your Device

Press the Power Button

Locate the power button on the front of your Snap-on PTA+ and press to turn on.

Wait for Complete Startup

Allow the device to fully boot and complete any updates before use.

⚠ Important

Do not disconnect power during startup or updates. Interrupting the process may cause system errors.

2 Powering Off

The Snap-on PTA+ will automatically prompt for shutdown after disconnecting from a vehicle. You may also manually shut down through the Settings menu at any time.

3 Setting Date and Time

Verify Date/Time Display

Check that the date and time displayed on the device are correct.

Adjust if Needed

If incorrect:

Select Settings
Select Date/Time
Manually set the correct date and time
Confirm the changes

Connecting to the Internet

A stable internet connection is essential for programming, updates, and accessing remote services. The Snap-on PTA+ supports both Ethernet and Wi-Fi connections.

💡 Recommended Connection

Ethernet is always recommended when available for the best programming and service results. It provides faster, more stable connectivity for critical operations.

1 Ethernet Connection (Preferred)

Plug the Ethernet cable directly into the Ethernet port on the device. The connection will establish automatically.

2 Wi-Fi Connection

Access Wi-Fi Settings

Select Settings, then select Wi-Fi.

Choose Network

Choose the wireless network you want to connect to and enter the password if required.

Complete Updates

Allow any available updates to download and complete. Updates may take several minutes depending on network speed.

Getting Connected to the Vehicle

Connect to OBD-II Port

Connect the Snap-on PTA+ to the vehicle using the OBD-II connector. The device will automatically retrieve the VIN to identify the vehicle's Year, Make, and Model.

Manual VIN Entry (If Needed)

If the VIN cannot be retrieved due to communication issues, you can manually enter the VIN when prompted.
